Tourist Season Has Arrived!

Our first tourist season hit us with an intense bang. We waited all summer to see what it would be like, anticipating a boost in business.

Boy, were we pleasantly surprised. And slightly overwhelmed. But very excited.

What caught us most off-guard was that the vast majority of our explosion of business came from Israeli tourists and backpackers. Pokhara is one of the major destinations for Israeli backpackers each year and, as it happens, our cafe and guest house are in the same neighborhood as the main hotels that focus on Israelis.

And we became their home for hundreds and hundreds.

We made a decision early in October that we would work specifically with them to honor their cultural and religious needs around the High Holy Days which have specific requirements regarding the types of food they eat and exchange of money. This resonated throughout their community and, as a result, caused a major wave of Israelis to come.
