Our Team
Deborah Bartz - Co-Founder
Deborah earned her master’s and doctorate in Human Development and Education from Harvard University, as well as her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Gordon College. While at Harvard, she met her husband, Kevin, with whom she later co-founded Passion Ventures. Originally from Singapore and raised as a missionary kid in Japan, Deborah’s international upbringing opened her eyes early on to the realities of extreme poverty and her calling to help alleviate it. Today, she manages the daily operations of Passion Ventures and looks forward to expanding her vision even further by learning from the Fellows. She and Kevin live on Long Island, New York, with their family, where they are active members of their local church.
Charis Loh - Advisor
Charis provides strategic advice to Passion Ventures. In her prior work, she managed research projects on topics such as foundation effectiveness, time-limited philanthropy, and strengthening grantees. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University and her master's degree in Political Science from MIT. Based in Cambridge, MA, she enjoys spending time with her family and their church community.
